Verification usually begins with the issuing institution, not with the document in your hand. Understanding that sequence helps you prepare the right materials before a request arrives.
What a verifier actually checks
Most checks confirm three things: that the institution exists and is recognised, that an award was conferred on a named person in a given year, and that the document presented matches the institution's record.
Common channels
- Direct registrar or records-office confirmation
- National student clearing services and qualification registers
- Digital credential wallets and signed PDF records
- Third-party screening agencies acting for an employer
What to keep ready
Keep a high-resolution scan, the exact award title, your enrolment name and the conferral date in one folder. A reference copy is useful for display and personal records; it is not a substitute for an official verification response, and should never be presented as one.
